Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
(RCIA)
Contact Persons:
Sister Nancy, Mike Mikan, or Leopoldo Martinez
The
RCIA is a restoration of the ancient practice of Christian initiation into the
Church: it is a process by which the individual can discern and ritualized the
stages of conversation leading up to and including sacramental initiation
through baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist. These sacraments are celebrated at the Easter
Vigil, thus empowering men and women to live lives of service, charity, and
justice. It is the parish community,
through its witness, worship, service and catechists, which offers the
invitation and support necessary for men and women to enter into the sacramental
life of the church.

Mission Statement/Function
We meet to study and discuss the Word of
God in unison with the teachings of our Holy Catholic Church. We also discuss the scriptural and historical
foundations of our Church in the hopes of achieving a better understanding of
our faith and to “always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who calls us
to account for the hope that is in us” (1 Peter 3:15)
We
use the materials provided by Catholic Exchange that are authored by noted
theologian Dr. Scott Hahn and apologists Mark Shea,
Jeff Cavins, and Fr. John Corapi.
