Mission Statement/Function

The mission of the Altar Society is to serve God by caring for the altar needs of San Jose Catholic Church.  Like Martha in Luke 10:38, we choose to remain in the background and provide the services needed by our parish.  The Society maintains the upkeep of all altar linens and priestly vestments.  It also helps the parish to focus on the liturgical seasons of the church by preparing and decorating the main church altar for special liturgical celebrations such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost, and other events as required.

Meetings: Before major holidays and as needed.

Choir Groups

Contact Person:

Rita Velasquez

Mission Statement/Function

Our mission as choirs is to bring Prayer and Thoughts along with music together so that we can all unite as one.  When you sing to God you pray twice.  It is the ultimate form of prayer to God because it involves discipline and togetherness.  It is a mission to serve the Lord and to abide in every word that you speak.  “The reward is in the feeling of satisfaction in people’s faces when they sing a prayer that relieves their burdens or adds joy to their life.”

Music enhances the Mass by adding beauty and solemnity to the Liturgy

Choir groups assist and encourage singing by the congregation, this edifying the faithful.

Meetings: usually practice once a week for 2 hours.
